Take branding to new heights with Puff Print

Take branding to new heights with Puff Print

Written By: Kendra Crawford

What is Puff Print?

Puff Print is a branding process that uses a specialty ink which expands during the curing process to create a raised, textured, three-dimensional finish.

Puff Print is best suited to bold logos, large typography, and simple graphic elements where impact and texture are the focus.  While Puff Print is available in a single colour only, pairing it with one colour Screen Print is a great way to bring a second colour into your design.

The result is eye-catching and tactile branding.

Why choose Puff Print?

Puff print has become increasingly popular across streetwear, lifestyle, and fashion-inspired apparel because it creates a modern look for branding without overcomplicating the design.

Some of the benefits include:

  • A raised 3D texture that stands out visually and physically
  • A more premium retail-style appearance
  • Strong impact on hoodies, tees, and heavyweight apparel
  • Great for bold logos and statement graphics
  • Adds perceived value to branded merchandise
  • Creates a more engaging, tactile experience

It’s a great way to offer clients something on-trend and different.

Where it works best

This technique is best suited to simple designs such as large typography, solid shapes, and minimal-detail logos. It is best used on cotton t-shirts, hoodies, sweatshirts, and sweatpants.

Important artwork considerations

Because Puff Print expands during production, it behaves differently from standard Screen Print. For best results:

  • Keep designs simple
  • Use thicker line weights
  • Allow generous spacing between elements
  • Treat puff print as the hero feature of the design

Artwork that does not suit puff print includes:

  • Fine lines and small text
  • Gradients
  • Tight spacing or intricate detail

Thinking about Puff Print for your next project?

Puff print is a strong option for brands wanting a modern, textured finish that adds dimension and interest to apparel.  Our team can help guide artwork setup and print recommendations to make sure designs are optimised for the best Puff Print result possible.
